The “agriturismo” “Il Piccolo Rustico” was opened in 2003, after the restoration of an old cottage, situated in a convenient position, between Alba and Diano d’Alba. It nestles in an ideal spot to begin exploring nature, history, local gourmet cuisine and to discover the captivating hills of Langhe, starting at the foot of the Alps and following each other reaching the Po valley.
The cottage was originally built at the beginning of 1800, and at that time included a watermill, operated by the nearby Cherasca stream, where the local farmers came to mill the grain. The access to the watermill and the hamlet was through a tree-line avenue leading to a wooden bridge which was destroyed by the floods of 1948.
Today only the main houses remain of what was then a small village, immersed in the country-side.
During the last few decades many new houses have been built one after the other arriving at the shrine of the Vergine Moretta.
The restoration has transformed the farm house into a small but comfortable accommodation facility, maintaining the original characteristics, by using specially chosen materials such as: local stone, brick and wood; the final result surprises the visitor. The Piccolo Rustico is an oasis of peace and colour at the door of Alba.
